20 China-African technology cooperation projects were signed

In the “2023 China-Africa Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum & Hubei International Technology Exchange Conference” held on July 6th, 20 China-African technology cooperation projects were signed.

在7月6日举办的“2023中非创新合作与发展论坛暨湖北国际技术交流会”上，20个中非科技合作项目现场签约。

Among the 20 projects, about 50% of them are those initiated by Hubei-based universities. Wuhan University of Technology signed agreements with Egypt-based Fayuom University and Al-Azhar University respectively, and both sides will accelerate the commercialization of their scientific research achievements in solid-state lithium battery.

这次签约的20个项目中，由湖北高校牵头的项目接近一半。武汉理工大学分别与埃及的法尤姆大学和爱资哈尔大学签约，双方将在固态锂电池方面加速科研成果转化。

Professor Xu Lin, from the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing of Wuhan University of Technology, said that: “Actual industrialization and commercialization will be performed after the research introduced to Egypt reaches certain maturity.”  

武汉理工大学材料复合新技术国家重点实验室教授徐林：“引进到埃及的研究当中，达到一定成熟度以后，进行实际的产业化和商业化。”

Agriculture is an conventional field for China-Africa cooperation. The Oil Crops Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hubei Lianfeng Overseas Agricultural Development Group Co., Ltd. signed agreements with the Agricultural Research Institute of Mozambique and Tigray Association for Oil and Bean Producers respectively for collaborative research in breed improvement and agricultural cutting-edge technology.”

农业，是中非合作的传统领域。中国农业科学院油料作物研究所、湖北省联丰海外农业开发集团有限责任公司分别与莫桑比克农业研究院、埃塞俄比亚提格雷油料和豆类生产者协会签约，围绕品种改良、农业前沿技术开展协同科研。

Ammanuel, President of Tigray Association for Oil and Bean Producers, said: “China is the largest consumer of oil, while Ethiopia is a major oil producer. The agreement was signed to promote the mutual talent training and academic exchange in seed gene and breed improvement.”

埃塞俄比亚提格雷油料和豆类生产者协会会长阿曼纽：“中国是最大的油料消费国，而埃塞俄比亚是主要的油料生产国，此次签约主要是为了提升双方在种子遗传基因及品种改良上面的人才培养和学术交流。”

David Silinde, Minister of Tanzania Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, explained that: “By attending the conference, we hope that we can learn China’s latest innovations and cutting-edge techniques to effectively promote the innovative development and cooperation under our joint consultation framework.”

坦桑尼亚畜牧和渔业部副部长大卫·西林德：“我们希望能从这次会议中，了解到中国的创新和更多的前沿技术，切实有效地推进双方共同协商框架下的创新发展与合作。”

In infrastructure, funds and projects played respective roles in the China-aided projects in Africa in the past; nowadays, both funds and projects play a joint role in such projects. China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute signed an agreement with Ghana for in-depth cooperation in the project management services of construction projects.

在基础建设方面，过去是资金援非、工程援非，如今已是双向奔赴。中铁大桥勘测设计院与加纳签约，准备在建设工程项目管理服务上进行深入合作。

Xiao Xiaoyan, Deputy Head of the Overseas Business Department of the institute, stated: “Some young African engineers were taken to our projects as interns to effectively facilitate the African projects and we can help these African engineers have better technology”.

中铁大桥勘测设计院集团海外部副部长肖小艳：“把一些年轻的非洲工程师带到我们项目上去实习，在建设好非洲项目的同时，在技术层面培养他们的工程师。”

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the exchanges between Hubei and African states, and Hubei has had 52 investment projects in Africa. Now, the China-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center, a national platform, has signed cooperative framework agreements with the Technology Innovation Agency of South Africa and the African Academy of Sciences to continuously reinforce the strategic cooperation of technical innovations.

今年是湖北同非洲国家交往合作60周年，湖北在非洲投资项目达52个。现在，国家级平台——中非创新合作中心，与南非技术创新署、非洲科学院签订合作框架协议，继续加强科技创新战略对接。

Du Yun, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, said: “We have established five offshore cooperation centers in Africa. From now on, we will expand these platforms and launch events like China-Africa Youth Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition to promote the cooperation and exchanges of Chinese and African youngsters.

湖北省科技厅副厅长杜耘：“我们在非洲已经成立了5个离岸合作中心，今后我们会继续扩大这些平台的建设，启动中非青年创新创业大赛这些活动，来推动我们中非青年的合作交流。”
